Gibraltar School District-Ribbon Cutting/Open House

February 18, 2020

The Gibraltar School District and Board of Education recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house to celebrate the completion of their newly remodeled space.  This was quite a unique project!  The existing space was dark and lacked any natural light.  To allow an abundance of natural light into the space, the existing roof was removed and a second story (clearstory) was added with exposed structural steel, laminated wood timber and beams and 360 degrees of windows.    The High School classrooms are now all adjacent to the Library with glass windows and doors to allow the new natural light in.  Several breakout rooms were created between the classrooms and Library to allow the students to use that space for collaboration.  This layout is typically seen in post-secondary education.  The project also included new secure entrances and existing finishes were updated and new lockers were added to help with the continued growth of the school.  Congratulations to the Gibraltar School District on their new space.
